DECEMBER 2010
- Hi folks, outside of the recent holiday post, you've probably been lead to believe (through explicit fault of my own!) as things have been so quiet around these parts in recent times, that nothing is happening... a musical world of stasis. Fortunately nothing could be farther from the truth... and the truth of the matter is that MUCH has been happening in recent times, and MUCH is going to happen in the forth coming months.

What is this "much is happening" of which I speak? Well, the second Oceans of Night CD (and overall, my 6th) is being wrapped up even as I type. Evidentally, there was a hurricane of creative activity here and in the course of a month or two (late October through December, 2010) an entire CD worth of new music was forged deep in the fires of Niceguy Studios. So, baring any kind of earthly calamity or inter-galactic catastrophe, there WILL be a new Oceans of Night CD, tentatively for release by the summer of 2011.

Secondly, the original Ambient Mind has folded and henceforth shall be known as the Oceans of Night group (very original, I know... whoever said we couldn't stray from ambitions of originality at any time?) Of course that means the link to the group has changed, while your membership status has not. So, the new link to the OCEANS OF NIGHT group, is as follows:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/oceansofnight

Change is good, especially when it's in the interest of the common good or just plain common SENSE. For future reference, also check out the Oceans of Night website for more information and updates. Well that's it for now, I'm sure I've bored most of you to tears and some of you to the frayed edge of sanity, so on that note - good luck and godspeed ahead!

NOVEMBER 2010
Hello and good afternoon sportsfans! Well, it's official - there are 9 completed (recorded) songs for the new CD, a total of 70 minutes of music.... ok, well, actually there's MORE than than, but these are all BRAND NEW SONGS. All rhythm guitars have been recorded and all that's left is vocal melodies (and lyrics) and guitar solos. Still, this is something of a ground-breaking effort in that I've composed, arranged and recorded 9 songs in the course of 1-1/2 months. I must be taking productivity pills. See what happens when one decides to take a sabbatical from the music biz? A blitz of creative lightning that I *wish* I could bottle and imbibe in the future when needed. Ah well, who's complaining... more to come!

OCTOBER 2010
- 5 new songs have been written, 5 new songs have been recorded... awaiting guitar and vocal arrangements (which of course, means, lyrics as well!) and, yup, progress is being made. 5 songs making up 45 minutes of music, and maybe - JUST MAYBE - some surprises as well. More to come!

SEPTEMBER 2010
- Work BEGINS on a NEW Oceans of Night CD! Yes, sportsfans, I've broke the musical instruments out of their self-imposed exile and commenced work on a new CD. I've a few older song ideas in the can already, and over the course of the last 2 days (October 1-3), I've actually composed, arranged, and recorded (with the exception of live drums, guitars and vocals) a brand new song, and I have 1 word for it - EPIC. Somehow I managed to squeeze a 15-minute masterpiece out of this track. Well, more on these creative/musical occurances as they... occur! :-)

APRIL - JUNE 2010
- Posted MORE reviews (unedited, of course!) but all remains relatively quiet in OoN land - at least for the time being. In the meantime, don't hesitate to check out Mr. Oliva's other band, THE NIGHTMARE STAGE and their debut CD, Free Admission for the Damned. You can check it out here. It's not too far removed, stylistisically, from OoN, as the dark and melancholy melodies are in full effect, but there is more of a Black Sabbath, doom metal/gothic tinge to the musical proceedings. Listen in, you won't be disappointed.

FEBRUARY - MARCH 2010
- A few more reviews have been posted in the press section. Oceans of Night vocalist, Mr. Scott Oliva, is working dilligently and hopefully, effortlessly, on the debut CD by The Nightmare Stage. This CD is going to be a dark, dramatic, synphonic heavy metal project that you will be commanded to check out when it's released later this spring. Of course, yours truly was contracted to design the CD package, so there might just be a slight bias on my part, but rest assured, nothing to write to the local authorities about (not that they would do anything about it, of course...)
be released late summer/early fall of 2011.
